The free-minded Waldemar Svensson founded Tidningen Väst-Sverige in order for it to be a link between the free-minded in western Sweden and to spread knowledge among the public about the aspirations and political deeds of the free-minded.In 1934, Swedens two liberal parties merged to form the Peoples Party. The liberal press in Western Sweden now represented the entire bourgeois left and at the same time the newspaper Western Sweden had spread to interested parties in the rest of the country. In the fall of 1935, the newspapers name was therefore changed to Frisinnad Tidskrift. After the war, the newspaper was expanded to its current size.
